Error accessing "Smartway"

Postby jennyg on Sun Jun 15, 2008 6:25 pm

Hi Paul,
Ever since June 2nd when webscribbles server went down i have not been able to access my smartway. I have my website hosted with webscribble. I have been waiting and it's almost 2 weeks and they haven't fixed the problem even though i've filled out numorous tickets and asked for support many times. The error message i get when i try to access smartway is: "Your hosting company's server does not allow outgoing connections through PHP's fopen() function. Please contact the support department to allow outgoing connections through fopen() to webscribble.com"

It's now june 15th and my smartway still down. Do you think i should change hosting companies since this seems to be a hosting problem or is this fixable without having the hasssle of moving my website. Webscribble hasn't fixed this problem in 12 days..and i'm losing business. Thanks for your advice.

Hi Jenny, my name is Dan..... I too have my hosting with WebScribble, I had experienced the same problem as you are currently. Yes, they seem to take forever to get to the issues of their customers, but eventually they get to it. Hang in there and try not to send them too much hate mail, think about it, if you had something that somebody else wanted and they kept ticking you off..... would you deal with that person too?...... I too get discouraged when I feel they are taking to long to fix my issues, but what are we going to do?....... we're at their mercy. I can't bad rap WebScribble due to they "Eventually" get around to fixing my issues. So, all in all, either hang in there and they will eventually get to your issue, or go to a different hosting company.

The problem is not with your hosting...

it is with webscribbles server

after the server crash in the begining of the month... people running 2.0 have not been able to access smartway and have been seeing the fopen()

error... this is not a true error it is an error generated from the webscribble script because it can not connect to the license check on webscribbles server for 2.0 (and is not actually an error with the setting as it says)

if you upgrade to 3.0 this error will be eliminated.

if you need it fixed on 2.0 send me your ftp and I will try to get it up and running for you
