Webscribble-Webdate-Support-Forum Dedicated Server Host Recommended

I had customized my Index page and pretty much got the screen I wanted. When I made a further change things went haywire. Some of my closing tags on tables disappeared when I saved the changes. What is doing this? I suspect there is something automatically modifying for well formed html, but I've been careful.

Any suggestions as to where to look?

using dreamweaver or an outside html editor is a much more stable idea

I do not recommend using the built in editor at all

Paul: Thanks for your prompt reply to my post. For a while I thought Webscribble was just making sure I had properly formed HTML tags. I know I was doing it right, but was forced into a particular configuration of tags. I got the problem solved -- at least on Firefox browser. Labels and tags are offset on the IE browser, however. I know that that can happen. Since I am constrained in the way I do my tags by the editing software( I have nested tables), I was looking to other means to straighten out the rendering.

With regard to your suggestion that I use a different editor, I have Dreamweaver, but assumed I can't use it since Webscribble only allows me to run their software on one server. I thought Dreamweaver needs me to copy all files on my remote server to my local computer, where I can use Dreamweaver. I thought Zend Optimizer (and Zend Guard) would not allow me to use Dreamweaver because of this requirement.

Could you tell me if I am wrong in my assumptions? It sure would be great to use Dreamweaver.

all you need is ftp access to your site:

you can connect with dreamweaver

dreamweaver interacts with your server (live site) and also stores the site locally. this is how I edit all my sites including webdate.

Thanks for the info Paul. As for ftp access, can I use Filezilla or Smartftp? Or do I have to use Putty for the secure access? I already can use my host's access; something they call the Plesk and the Virtuoso Control panels. I guess I'll ask my host, or Dreamweaver the details. At least they are helpful (unlike Webscribble). BTW, Webscribble, especially Rhonda, acts like they want people to be unsuccessful using their software. I know -- they don't know anything! .
