I am new and lost

Postby Tracy on Sat Mar 08, 2008 5:56 pm

I am new to the internet game with little to no experience in programming but i am learning. The webdate support prople are very prompt in getting back to me but they are very technical. I bought it because they advertise no experience necessary. Here are the problems I am having and I do not know where else to go. If the picking of your brains begin to hurt please let me know.
1) I want google bots to caress my site but I do not think they can find it. I asked support to help and they said they had to do something different because I have a style sheet on my main page. If you veiw the code on my site it has no head tag to start. Hence I could not put the little tag for google to go look at. When i did what they said in the main page my top row for contact and faqs would jump down 1 line and look wonky. now I look at the source and I do not even have key words in the front. I have no Idea where support put things so I am unable to do the google thing. I tried and they say they cant find it still. Could someone help me as I want to go and get google and yahoo for different things and I do not know where to place the codes they want to search.
2) I want to put banner ads and and sponsored links on my site but have no idea how to do it. could you help with that to.
My site is http://www.singleiam.com :D :?: :?: :?:

Tracy,

A quick look at your site and I found you do have some meta tags in the head section.. generally on webdate site the head section for the meta tags is found in the top of the file called:

templates/main.html

you can add meta tags there inbetween the <head> and </head>

Do you mean google ads? when you say banner ads? if so this is very simple to do.. you can get the code from google and simply paste them into your html code

templates/main.html and templates/quicksearch.html are good spots to add your google click ads..

Go sign up for google adsense and copy paste the code from googles site into your html in these files... always make sure the size of your google ads is smaller than the table you are inserting them into or it will mess up your page...

let me know if you need more help on these matters.
