Is Webscribble Down for Good

Postby q8mktg on Mon Jun 02, 2008 7:01 am

Hi Paul

I have a classified website based on webscribble web classifieds since last 6 months. In the past I have had problems with the webscribble support who took pretty long deliver their customization (more than 5 weeks) after they took the money. So I know for sure they are quite shady as a company. Nonetheless, I am very satisfied with their product "web classifieds" as it satisfies all my needs and has not given me any problems.

Few das back I found the web scribble website to be down. That got me curious so I googled on webscribble and found that several other consumers are also having a problem with them and their support (wonder why I dint search for these issues before buying web classifieds). Based on the feedback frm the Internet, it seems they have been hit by some law suite and are now been shutdown. I also saw in some posts that they have some spyware in their system which can cause the website to go offline if they decide to do so. Further every year they force their customers to upgrade their licenses.

I have very little experience with them. Since you seem to be an expert on web classifieds, can you confirm or deny these accusations. I know for sure webscribble.com is now down since a very long time. What implications does it have on websites using their software. Shall we move to other scripts.

Appreciate your response.

Regards.
Alice.

I am currently 75% through defeating licensing check in webdate. If succesful I could take a look at other webscribble software.

Webscribble is backup again but not working properley. I cannot log into the admin section of Webjobs.
Has anyone stopped the licence check yet so we can keep our sites up?

Just got this from web scribble:

Site Downtime

On Saturday, May 31, a transformer exploded at the H1 datacenter at The Planet, where some of our servers are located. The explosion caused a fire, which required all backup generators to be shut down and servers to be taken offline. While The Planet has generally been a very reliable company to deal with, this has been an unfortunate situation, which has caused some of our customers downtime including our own web site.

Over Sunday night The Planet staff regenerated power to the second floor of the datacenter, bringing one of the servers back online. Unfortunately, the server on which webscribble.com is hosted on is located on the first floor and did not get power back as quickly because of extensive damage to power lines. On Monday evening, The Planet restored power to the first floor using backup generators, but they became overloaded later that evening and our server once again lost power. On Tuesday afternoon, our server was physically transferred to another datacenter and we were able to get our web site and helpdesk back up online this morning shortly after 11 AM EST.

We sincerely apologize for the unexpected downtimes we’ve had and are taking measures to prevent this from happening in the future. If you’ve submitted tickets since Saturday and did not get an e-mail confirming that we received your request, please resend it. We’ll be working hard to catch up on your requests and answer all of your questions.

I am new to this site , there is some really great info on here. Right now I am in a total nightmare with webscribble. We planned the site to go live August 21st and they have totally messed the whole thing up. I saved my files just before they did all this damage, yet I can't seem to uplaod it. It's a licensing issue I know, because I had to same problem when I tried to upgrade to network 2.0 Webscribble has been ignoring me for 2 days now, and I need to at least get my site back to where it was- I am worried they will continue to ignore my requests. Do you know any helpful info about this? I will post this as well. Also, have you heard of ayone on here that has produced customer templates for webnetwork? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Also, what's all these stuff I hear about license checks and what not????
