Problems altering pages

Postby axus on Tue Feb 05, 2008 2:52 pm

Hi
Can any one out there help this old codger please.
I bought Webdate, Affiliate and PayPal modules 3 years ago and despite a lot of effort, never got it working.
During this time I lost my Domain name through company I bought it through going bust. I have another name, rehosted with another hosting company and am having one last try to get it up and running.
I need to alter the Page Headers and some wording on several pages. I have got CuteFTP, tried downloading it to transfer it to Frontpage but nothing seems to work, whatever I do.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

You will need to use your html editor to alter the html

I use dreamweaver.. you could do it directly through your file system and edit the code in standard text editor if you don't have a software like dreamweaver or golive

what exactly are you trying to change I can definitely help but I need a better understanding of what you are trying to do.. be a little more specific as to the task at hand...

Hi! I have just added template 1 to my webdate and I use core ftp which is free
I find I can change the index page the only problem with that is internet explorer browser moves the browse table to the bottom of the page
And I would like to add a link at the top of the page to other pages.but I have added a link to the index_header template to change this but nothing shows up
Another problem is the featured profiles text is the wrong color making it hard to see
Anybody using this template and editing it ok ? .what editor are you using
Are there any cheap editors for this

I use dreamweaver I do not know about cheap editors a text editor will do the trick

it is because your page is made up of several html pages

the page called

main.html opens (PAGE CONTENT PAGE such as INDEX.HTML) and QUICKSEARCH.HTML

also indextop.html is there...

you really need to understand how this page is displayed before you can modify it effectively also you can change colors of the featured profile text in style.css (file)

look at main.html so you can see how this page is formed...

Hi Paul

I am sorry about the delay in replying, I have been trying to sort things out with Webdate staff.

I have copied below the last few messages with Webdate. As you will see, they have installed version 3 but cannot re-install the affiliate module, nor have they given me a time scale for installing it.

I have installed a MSQL Database (hopefully), using CPanel @ http://www.siteground.com .

Been looking at an affiliate programme at http://jam.jrox.com/ rather than wait for Webdate to sort things out, I would appreciate your view on it being suitable or not please. I have also managed to sort out the alterations to my site at last.

Best regards

Keith

Go with an aftermarket affiliate script.

I have not used any so I can not recommend a good one to you...

I know one of the site owners here is using an aftermarket affiliate program but I forgot who it was..

if anyone has experience with a good affiliate program please post here.

thanks

Thanks Paul I have sorted some of my template 1 out when I added to the index page it pushed the browse section down to the bottom of the page I had to make the images on the left side longer to fix the problem
I was able to add a link to the top of the page by using core ftp

Hi Paul.

Sorry about the delay in replying, I took your advice and purchased PAP (Post Affiliate Pro). Had to get a second Web name and a seperate server account.

The affiliate is installed and I am at present trying to integrate it with my site. ( The software costs $99, integration cost $199) ???

My immediate problem is I have scrolled down my site pages and the bottom halves have script showing for some unknown reason, http://my-amour.com/ I don't know enough to try to correct it.

Help will be greatly appreciated

Keith

You have debug mode set to on.. go into the webdate admin area found at

yoursite.com/smartway

sign in as admin

click on system settings

click on administrative settings..

click on debug mode off

click save settings..

this will take the database calls off of your page bottom

Hello

So far, I have got to point where it says " The general method of integration is putting an invisible image anywhere in the "thank you for order" or order confirmation page that is displayed to the customer after the payment is processed.
I just cannot find out how to go to the " thank you for order " page, to add a code.

Also I need to know how to set it up so that when a member pays via PayPal, the payment is registered with both PAP and my site.

Many thanks

If you have paypal pluggin installed the payment is automaticly recorded with webdate and paypal

there are times when it does not autorecord to webdate because of a bug in the paypal module.

from what I have heard if the person is a paypal customer the automatic update of membership in webdate works fine

but if they are not a paypal user then it does not always automaticly update their membership..

Alot of site owners are thinking of going with paypal pro and asked me to work with the integration but because of my limited time I recommended they use someone more familiar with paypal integration.

Hello

I have spent many hours trying to do this.

The Paypal button is between "Billing content" and "Enter a promotion code" on page :- http://my-amour.com/index.php?page=bill ... ng_process

Yet when I go into CPanel, to page :-

https://67.15.250.2:2083/templates/.wys ... p85A4iBw7I

as you can see below, there isn't any mention of the PayPal button for me to enter the code into.

<table cellspacing="1" cellpadding="0" width="90%" align="center" border="0">{BILLING_CONTENT}
<tbody></tbody></table></td></tr>
<tr>
<td class="trtc"><br />
<br /></td></tr>
<tr>
<td class="trtc">&nbsp;&nbsp;Pay by:</td></tr>{PAYMENT_METHODS}
<tr>
<td class="trtc" height="25">&nbsp; </td></tr>
<tr>
<td class="trth" align="middle" height="25">&nbsp; <input type="submit" value="Continue" /> </td></tr></form>
<tr class="trtc">
<td><br />
<form method="post" action="index.php">Enter a promotion code: <input type="hidden" value="promotion" name="page" /> <input type="hidden" value="submit" name="action" /> <input name="code" /> </td></tr>
<tr class="trth">
<td>
<div><input type="submit" value="Redeem" /></div></form></td></tr><input type="hidden" value="{STEP}" name="step" /> </tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></tbody></table>
</body>
</html>

The:

{PAYMENT_METHODS}

variable is the html for your payment gateways that are enabled

the code inside of the {PAYMENT_METHODS} variable is asigned in the file :

engine/pages/billing.php

if you want to change this to your own html you can simply replace the variable {PAYMENT_METHODS} with your own code.. or you can look into engine/pages/billing.php to see how this variable is asigned..
